No roof is immune to damage, but when it comes to addressing that damage, you may feel a bit lost. Will roof repair resolve the situation, or is it more serious than that? Is Roof Repair Enough?

If you’re wondering whether roof repair will be sufficient for your needs, consider the following questions:

  • How frequent are your roofing issues? If this is a one-time situation and you haven’t had many roofing issues in the past, it’s likely that roof repairs are going to be just fine. Roof replacement is advisable if you are constantly having to repair your roof.
  • How old is your roof? As you might imagine, an older roof that is damaged is more likely to require replacement than a newer roof. Shingle roofs tend to last 20 to 30 years, while a tile roof may last up to 50 years. Metal roofs can last anywhere from 40 to 70 years.
  • What specifically is damaged and how severe is it? If you have a few broken or missing shingles, these can probably be easily replaced and you won’t need a full roof replacement. Damaged flashing is another issue than can easily be repaired. With severe damage to the roof structure, repairs won’t help much and you’ll need a roof replacement instead.
